The Timberwolves will be playing the full four quarters on Monday, but they're expected to have things wrapped up well before that. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Portland Trail Blazers at 8:00 p.m. ET on March 4th at Target Center. The Timberwolves' defense has only allowed 106.3 points per game this season, so the Trail Blazers' offense will have their work cut out for them.

The Timberwolves have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Sunday and fell 89-88 to Los Angeles. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points the Timberwolves have scored all season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Trail Blazers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Memphis by a score of 107-100. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Trail Blazers were down 18 points with 9:29 left in the fourth quarter.

The Trail Blazers got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Anfernee Simons out in front who scored 30 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Simons didn't help the Trail Blazers' cause all that much against the Grizzlies on Friday but the same can't be said for this contest.

Minnesota's loss dropped their record down to 42-19. As for Portland, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-42.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: The Timberwolves just can't miss this season, having made 48.8% of their shots per game. It's a different story for the Trail Blazers, though, as they've only made 44% of their shots this season. Given the Timberwolves' sizable advantage in that area, the Trail Blazers will need to find a way to close that gap.

Everything came up roses for the Timberwolves against the Trail Blazers when the teams last played back in February as the squad secured a 128-91 win. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trail Blazers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.

This season the Minnesota Timberwolves (42-19) have only lost back-to-back games three times, including heading into Monday. They have yet to lose three games in a row because after back-to-back losses this season Minnesota has responded with a double-figure win each time. Minnesota looks to repeat that trend against the Portland Trail Blazers (17-42) while also closing out the four game season series with a sweep. In the first three games between these two Northwest Division rivals Minnesota has won by an average of 24.0 points per game. Anthony Edwards and company have been lights out against Portland and look to continue that today on the second night of a back-to-back.

In the last game between these teams just before the All-Star Break Minnesota won 128-91 with seven different players scoring in double figures, led by Edwards with 34 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

This season Minnesota has dominated Portland in its rebuilding season more than any other team. In three games they are averaging 121.7 points while allowing just 97.7 points per game. Edwards is averaging 28.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game in three games against Portland.

Every win for Minnesota down the stretch with only 2.5 games separating teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota between the top seed and the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

The Timberwolves dropped their previous game to the Clippers, 89-88, on Sunday. Anthony Edwards led the way with 27 points, plus five rebounds and two assists. The Trail Blazers were victorious in their previous game against the Grizzlies, 107-100 in OT, on Saturday. Anfernee Simons led the way with 30 points, plus seven boards and seven assists.

The Portland Trail Blazers will shift from taking on a struggling and injury-riddled Memphis Grizzlies team to facing a healthy, true contender that could be in a bad mood coming off of consecutive losses.

The Minnesota Timberwolves lost 89-88 Sunday night at home to the LA Clippers just a couple of days after falling to the Sacramento Kings, 124-120 in overtime.

Portland is Minnesota’s final opponent of a seven-game home stand that has not gone very well. The Timberwolves are 3-3 with that third loss coming to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Needless to say, Minnesota should be plenty motivated to make easy work out of the Blazers before starting an upcoming six-game trip.

The Blazers have lost three times to the Timberwolves this season. This is a dreadful matchup for Portland, especially if Deandre Ayton (questionable, wrist sprain) and Jerami Grant (doubtful, quad soreness) do not play.

Portland surged back after trailing by thirteen points in the final nine minutes to force overtime, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 107-100. Anfernee Simons scored 30 points, including a late flurry. Jabari Walker finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Toumani Camara added 15 points to help Portland sweep the two-game set after taking the opener 122-92 on Friday night.

Ashton Hagans finished with 13 points and eight assists, while Dalano Banton scored eight of his 10 points in overtime.

I knew coming into the game that we were going to have to do everything we could, Portland coach Chauncey Billups said. "You beat a team like that ... at home, they're going to come out and swing. Throw every swing they can at you, and they did that.”

After scoring just seven points in Friday’s blowout of the Grizzlies, Simons rebounded in a big way in the rematch. He notched his first 30-point game since January 26, when he dropped 40 in the Spurs. With Jerami Grant exiting Saturday’s game at the half with a sore quad, Simons’ scoring ability will be crucial if the Blazers forward misses time. They play one of the best clubs in the West.
